Position Description
Resident Field Service Power Generation Technician
Bismarck, North Dakota (reports to Minot, ND Branch)
Key Responsibilities
· Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair of electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical
failures, and utility transfer switches and switchgears for customers in the stated territory.
· Complete current and future scheduled work on customers' generators and engines.
· Build and develop customer relationships
Critical Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities by Dimension:
Functional/Technical
· Minimum three years power generation equipment and or engine repair experience
· Comprehensive understanding of electricity, electrical controls, generator sets and power distribution.
· Engine diagnosis and troubleshooting aptitude.
· Ability to interpret a repair work order, requisition parts and supplies and complete necessary
reporting to accomplish the required repairs.
· Ability to read instructions, parts information, and communicate effectively with employees and
customers.
· Organizational skills to maintain inventory of parts, supplies and literature.
· Proven ability to work safely in an environment with live voltage and engines.
· Excellent customer support skills.
· Ability to use a laptop computer and keyboard to complete work.
· Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
· Must have full set of tools.
· Must be willing to be on call and work at the customers' discretion.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift 25 100lbs of components, load cable and equipment
· Tasks require bending, stretching, standing, kneeling, twisting and climbing
· Able to travel to and from customer's sites in the field service truck to perform work
· May require overnight stays and/or non-business hours to support customer requirements.
· Wear safety equipment at all times and perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
